Relatives of Avicii say the DJ 'could not go on any longer' and 'really struggled with thoughts about life and happiness' before he was found dead aged 28

Avicii's family say the DJ 'could not go on any longer'

The family of the 28-year-old Swedish DJ, whose real name was Tim Bergling, said the 28-year-old 'could not go on any longer and wanted peace', in an open letter published today.

Avicii was found dead in the city of Muscat, Oman, on Friday, following a long struggle with mental and physical health issues,

such as anxiety and alcohol abuse, which saw him quit touring in 2016. While the cause of the DJ's death has not been made public,

his parents said Thursday that 'Tim was not made for the machinery he ended up in'.
