Mauricio Pochettino says talks with Daniel Levy over his future will wait until after Champions League final
Mauricio
Pochettino has confirmed that talks with chairman Daniel Levy over his
and Tottenham Hotspur’s future will be put on hold until after the
Champions League final.
And manager Pochettino has also revealed that his Spurs players will
only be given two extra days off during the build up to the June 1 final
against Liverpool.
Tottenham minds were already on the Champions League on Sunday, when
their fans turned out to see off the players before they head to Madrid
and Everton supporters were more interested in cheering Manchester City
goals at Brighton.
Christian Eriksen’s free-kick ensured Spurs did not finish their
domestic season with three straight defeats. But, in truth, nobody cared
too much.
Everton fans went home happy that Liverpool were not crowned
champions and Tottenham can now start their final preparations.
Pochettino has suggested that he could quit Tottenham after the
Champions League final and wants to know Levy’s plan for the future
before making a decision.
But,
despite having almost three weeks between the last Premier League game
and the final, Pochettino does not plan any serious talks with Levy
until after the Liverpool clash.
“The focus and the energy has to be on helping the players arrive in the best condition and design the plan to try to win,” said Pochettino. “We are going to have time after the final (to talk).

“What happens happens and, for sure, we are going to talk. But now is about being focused on working hard and how we are going to manage and handle the players to arrive in the best condition. I think we can make history.
“We are creating history because we are making it, but if we can win
we will write history and change the perception of this amazing club.”
Asked whether his players will get some time off, Pochettino replied: “They will only have two days off now, Monday and Tuesday then we start to work. We have our idea, we have our plan. We designed our plan.
“Of course, you know, we need to be natural. It is not a pre-season, but it is not going to be a holiday.
In our mind we have a clear way of how we are going to work in the next three weeks, of course for the players they need to agree, accept and show the faith and trust in us and then of course, if we win, for sure we will have been right.”

Eric
Dier’s goal from an Erik Lamela corner gave Tottenham the perfect start,
but they drifted through large parts of the game and the biggest moment
of excitement of a drab first-half came when Everton fans cheered City
going 2-1 up at Brighton.
Spurs supporters were briefly angered by the fact it was former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott who equalised with a left-footed shot as he slipped over and the Everton fans had cause for double celebration two minutes later.
They were already on their feet cheering City’s fourth goal, when Cenk Tosun forced the ball over the line after Hugo Lloris had saved a Michael Keane header. Eriksen’s brilliant free-kick rescued a draw for the hosts.
Everton manager Marco Silva is now focussed on trying to sign Andre Gomes, who is also a target of Tottenham, and Kurt Zouma on permanent deals.
On Gomes, Silva said: “As a club, we have to do everything to sign him.” And on Zouma, he added:
“It is not something in my hands. The situation at Chelsea (with a possible transfer ban) doesn't help us, but let's see what we can do. I am sure we will do everything we can because he will be a key player for us.”
