Watch the moment McGregor aims metal railing at Nurmagomedov's bus in New York after being stripped of belt as UFC claim a warrant for his arrest has been issued
Conor McGregor (inset) is not on the UFC 223 fight card in Brooklyn on
Saturday, but the mixed martial arts superstar still made headlines at
Thursday's media day by attacking a bus full of rival MMA fighters and
leaving them
covered in shattered glass. Police and EMS were called
according to UFC president Dana White, who said that there is a warrant
out for McGregor's arrest. However, an NYPD spokesman would not confirm
that there is a warrant
for McGregor's arrest, instead saying that the
investigation is ongoing. The Irishman was slated to be cage-side for
teammate Artem Lobov's fight before Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway
square off for the lightweight belt
McGregor is scheduled to lose on
Saturday. White previously ruled that McGregor would have to forfeit the
belt to whomever won Saturday's title bout because the 29-year-old has
not participated in a UFC event since 2016 - nearly a
year before his
doomed boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in August of 2017.. The
skirmish occurred as Nurmagomedov made his exit from the arena's bottom
floor. As the lightweight's bus inched towards the truck elevator,
McGregor and his posse attempted to climb aboard before one of the
windows got smashed, leaving the passengers covered in glass. UFC
lightweight Michael Chiesa suffered a laceration to his face and one UFC
employee broke a knuckle, according to White.
